All Coaches must be members of the Optimist Club
Applications for all coaches are accepted beginning in December. Approval for each team's Head Coach begins in January. The failure of a returning head coach to submit a coaching application by the cutoff date may result in the loss of the team name and/or position as head coach. Please see the schedule of events for specific cutoff date. Also, see the rules of seniority for head coaches to determine the position in the order of succession for a coach.
The Optimist Club of Arlington is associated with Pony League baseball. At the end of the season, the winning head coach from each division can take an All Star team to the Pony League World Series Tournaments. The first few rounds are in the local area. If a team can progress through enough rounds they will play in other cities across the country.
The Baseball Project Committee begins its season in November with committee executive meetings for planning and rulebook review. See the BPC's administrative schedule.
Teams are formed as head coaches become available. The head coach of a team that played in the previous season is encouraged to begin contacting team members in December to see who is planning to play in the new season. Head coaches of new teams should begin working their area schools in December as well so that by January they have a good start on getting a team together. Practice starts in February and the season starts in March. Chamionship day is generally towards the end of May and Pony Tournaments start in June.
