Each April the Optimist Clubs in Arlington stage the Junior Olympics at the University of Texas at Arlington. Many events are held for boys and girls in the third through sixth grades. The particpants may chose "Power" or "Speed" Categories and compete in all of the events in one of those two categories. The top three winners get medals and the next three places receive ribbons. School based relay and tug-of-war teams may compete for trophies. Entire schools can compete for the All Around Champion Trophies.
Softball Throw was one of the field events.
