Thank you for your interest in the Optimist Club of Arlington Texas

Our motto is Friend of Youth. We have been making Arlington a better place to be a kid for over 60 years. Our club is the largest in Optimist International with over 450 members who volunteer their time and talents to work with the youth of our city.

We are best known for our Baseball and Football programs for boys and girls ages 4 through 14, but in addition to these we have annual Junior Olympics and Junior Golf programs. If a child is not into athletics we also sponsor annual essay and oratorical contests. We support the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation (HOBY) which teaches “young people to think for themselves.” We offer $10,000 annually in college scholarships. We support Mission Arlington by helping a needy family at Christmas. We annually help clean and restore Arlington’s original cemetery, support a Special Boy Scout troop and have a Respect for Law Program with the Arlington Police Department just to name a few.

We meet and have dinner on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at J.Gilligan’s, 407 E. South Street (corner of Abram and Mary) at 6:30 P.M. Dues in the club are $35 per quarter, which includes the price of dinner at the meetings. An initiation fee of $75 includes the first quarter’s dues.

If we sound like a club you would be interested in, contact our Membership Secretary/Treasurer, Dan Koegler, at 817-465-4934 or just come on out and visit us for dinner.
